Plumbing Recommendations for Optimal Performance

• Match the pump outlet with a minimum pipe diameter of 3 inches to reduce flow restriction.
• Place the pump in a skimmer basket or pump vault; it must be a position where it is always under the water.
• To be able to fine-tune back pressure and, if your head is less than 20 feet, to protect the motor, install a ball valve on the discharge line.
• At the outlet, do not use sharp 90-degree elbows — each 90° elbow adds about 5 feet of equivalent head loss.
• For 230V models, make sure your circuit is well grounded and rated for the amp draw (up to 14.5 A for TB14500).
• Clean the inlet strainer every 2-4 weeks in ponds with heavy debris to keep the flow rate at optimum.
