This second-generation pondmax evo ii features practical design upgrades. Integrated SmartMag technology protects the motor by shutting it down during dry-run situations or clogged intakes.
This protection is vital. Many pump failures happen when a skimmer basket is ignored for weeks, causing the pump to run dry and overheat.
Where the PondMAX EVO II Pump Works
These units are rated for use inside pond skimmers and as dedicated water feature pumps. Smaller models (EV700 to EV1200) include a flow control valve and an oversized strainer screen with a sponge.
This allows you to dial back output for fountain heads without adding extra plumbing valves. Larger units (EV1800 and up) offer mounting flexibility, working both horizontally and vertically in tight housings.
The entire range, from EV700 to EV3600, supports inline plumbing via a flooded suction setup. This is ideal for pumps sitting below the water line where gravity feeds the intake.

Note the port size jump from 1" to 1.5" between the EV1200 and EV1800. Upgrading past the EV1200 may require re-plumbing your existing 1" lines.

Each unit ships with the necessary plumbing parts for a quick install. Maintenance is tool-free; baskets, screens, and the impeller housing disassemble by hand.

Choosing the Right Size
Aim to match the max flow to your pond volume for a total turnover every hour. Then, check the head height against your actual lift distance.
Real-world output is always lower than the max rating due to vertical lift and fitting losses. For example, an 1,800 GPH pump may push 1,000 GPH at 8 feet of lift.
