EasyPro TM Series Low Head Pumps

Yes. EasyPro TM Series pumps are built and rated for continuous 24/7 submersible use. The built-in thermal overload protection circuit checks the temperature of the motor and if it is hot, it will automatically turn off the pump and then restart it when the temperature returns to a safe operating region. This type of protection is very important in the summer months when the temperature of the surrounding water increases and there is a load on the motor. The 2-year limited warranty will not be void if the pump is used continuously under normal conditions.

The TM9500 and TM9502 are the same pump platform but with different electrical versions. Both provide 9,500 GPH at a maximum head of 31 feet. The only difference is in the voltage; the TM9500 is at 115 volts (standard North American household current) that draws 10.9 amps while the other runs at 230 volts requiring only 5.5 amps. The 230V version is preferred for wire runs over 50 feet as lower amperage results in less voltage drop; the same applies to the TM13500 (115V, 12.0A) vs TM13502 (230V, 6.0A). Choose 115V if your electrical service is standard residential and the wire run is under 50 feet; choose 230V if a dedicated 240V circuit is already available or for long wire runs.

The TM Series has a special design in which a compact 12-inch diameter cylindrical body is used so that it can fit into large skimmer boxes and submersible pump vaults. The TM9500/TM9502 is sized at 12 inches diameter x 19.5 inches high. The TM13500/TM13502 and TM17500 both have dimensions of 12 inches diameter x 21 inches high. Before ordering, check the size of your skimmer’s internal pump chamber; it should be at least 12.5 inches in diameter and 20-22 inches deep. Check the compatibility specifications of your skimmer’s manufacturer or contact Puget Sound Ponds to get help in matching the pump with the skimmer.

There’s no pre-filter basket or intake screen in the TM Series pump. In installations where debris is a concern, EasyPro recommends placing the pump in a skimmer box with a debris net or basket - which is actually how it’s supposed to be installed in most applications of the TM Series. If you’re installing the pump in an open pond bottom as opposed to a skimmer, we strongly recommend placing an inline basket strainer before the pump inlet to prevent fouling and motor damage.

The EasyPro TM Series is a pump that can be fully submerged and is rated for continuous operation underwater. EasyPro does not publish a maximum depth of submersion for the TM Series; for most pond applications in residences and light commercial work (usually between 2 to 6 feet in depth), it is generally advisable to place the pump at the deepest point accessible in the pond or pump vault. If your installation requires submersion beyond 8 feet, then you would need to contact EasyPro or Puget Sound Ponds for guidance.

At full rated load, the TM9500 draws approximately 1.0 HP (746 watts), the TM13500 draws 1.5 HP (1,119 watts), and the TM17500 draws 2.0 HP (1,492 watts). At a national average electricity rate of $0.16/kWh, the TM9500 costs about $0.12 per hour to run, or about $2.86 per day for 24-hour operation. The TM13500 runs about $0.18 per hour, and TM17500 about $0.24 per hour. Choose the right pump size for your head and flow requirements - and don’t oversize - to keep operating costs to a minimum. The TM9502, TM13502, and TM17500 (230V models) are slightly more efficient on long wire runs because of lower amperage and voltage drop losses.

The EasyPro TM Series is designed and warranted for freshwater pond applications only - including koi ponds, water gardens, and freshwater pondless waterfall systems. Any use in saltwater or brackish water environments is not covered under the warranty and may accelerate corrosion of internal components.
