Gabions

A Gabion (from Italian gabbione meaning "big cage"; from Italian gabbia and Latin cavea meaning "cage") is a cage, cylinder or box filled with rocks, concrete, or sometimes sand and soil for use in civil engineering, road building, military applications and landscaping. Gabions are also used for slope stability and erosion protection in construction.

By using welded wire mesh, our Gabions are stronger and hold their shape better than other types. The strength of the welded wire mesh also offers the following advantages:

  • Allows for careful machine filling
  • Easy to hold the alignment of the face
  • Allows for larger sizes to be manufactured (up to 24’ long x 6’ wide x 3’ tall), which means fewer seams to be joined in the field.
  • Simple field cutting to fit site conditions, without compromising the structural strength of the basket.

Our Gabions sizes come in 3 inch increments. Email us at info@pugetsoundponds.com for pricing and availability.
